• Select the photographs you want to use, and then decide what size you want the photographs to be.

• Open up whichever photo editing software you use and start to work on your photographs. Digital photographs when uploaded from camera to your computer the resolution can be 72 ppi.  Now if all you wanted to do was to view these photographs on your computer screen or to email them to family and friends this resolution would be fine, but you want to print out these photos so you will need to change the resolution to at least 200 ppi.  If you print out your photographs at 72 ppi you will be disappointed with the results but at 200 ppi you will achieve a sharp photo print.

• To resize your photo from 72 ppi to 200 ppi all you need to do is go to select image size and then image size and ensure the resample image option is unchecked and then simply change from 72 to 200 ppi, once completed just click ok.

• Once your photograph is at the correct resolution for printing it is time to crop your photo so that you turn your picture from an everyday snap shot to an interesting focused print.  Choose the crop tool and pick the dimensions and resolution you require for example width 6 height 4 and resolution 200 ppi.  Position the crop around the interesting parts of the photograph for example imagine a rule of thirds grid on the photograph and position the interesting part of the photo where the lines of the grid cross.  A photo of a child walking down a path for example could be cropped so the start of the path is at the bottom left side of the photo and the child the main focus of the picture is at the upper left crossed lines of the grid.

These are only the very basic steps to getting good prints from your digital photographs but if you follow these very simple steps you will be able to either upload your photographs to a photo printing site or print out your photos on your own inkjet printer and achieve good quality interesting prints.  Remember if you print out your photographs at home make sure you use photo quality paper.

You have your printed photographs ready now you need to put them into whichever type of frame you have chosen. Most of the frames will take photographs of various shapes and sizes and all you need to do is to decide which will be your main photograph and which will be the surrounding complementing photos.
