Collage picture frames are a great way for you to decorate your home in a very personal manner. Collage frames allow you to group together your photographs in a variety of creative ways all within one frame.

Picture collages allow you to display your photographs in an artistic way around a particular theme instead of having hundreds of different photos in individual frames dotted around your home.

Imagine a hundred pictures of your baby in that precious first year, but not the space to display them or the fact that they are hidden away in that beautiful baby album. Yes the album may be beautiful but how many times do you get to look at it? That’s right not too many, the first year with a new baby is quite busy! Why not pick say twelve photographs (one picture for each month of your babies first year) and display them on the wall in your babies room. With a collage picture frame of your baby you will have created a beautiful memento of their first year and remember the beauty of a collage frame is that you can swap out the photographs at any time you want changing for the 2nd year, 3rd year and so on.

It doesn’t just have to be a babies room you could create a collage around any special occasion, a wedding, an anniversary, a special birthday or vacation maybe you just want to change the photographs in your collage as the seasons change or as you change the decorations within your room. Whose to say you can just put photographs into your frames, a school collage of the photographs from each year in elementary school could have pieces of your child’s artwork in a couple of the frames or why not print out a favorite quote in a swirly font and add that to the mix.

Collage picture frames come in many different sizes and materials allowing you to co-ordinate them with the feel and type of display you would like to achieve for each room in your home. Some frames have spaces for one large picture and a group of smaller pictures and others are for pictures of the same size and shape, many are made of wood or metal and some are magnetic or acrylic, it is up to you to choose the size and type you would prefer for the project you are creating.

Square Picture Frame

I have this thing for snow… now I wouldn’t say I exactly love it… that would be pushing it a tad far.

I love the idea of snow, the way when it falls and you’re all wrapped up snug and warm and everything sounds muffled…silent…that’s when I love snow.

I guess you could say I’m a fair weathered lover of snow, as long as it’s crisp, bright white and I can gaze at it longingly from my vantage point of warmth… then it’s my best friend.

But when it’s slushy gray vile and will just not leave….when you have to climb mount Everest just to vacate your vehicle… then I hate it with a passion usually reserved for the genuinely evil of this world.

One thing about snow is it gives you some great photo opportunities, also once you get home if you are anything like me you want to improve on your original capture and this can be done with the help of your picture editing software in just a few steps.

You can crop your photographs into any shape that takes your fancy.. with this example I choose a square so it would be easy to display in a square picture frame….you can make the whites in the image whiter….make the edges look crisper and generally work on it until it’s looking just the way you like it…that is the beauty the power and the wonder of… photoshop.

Capturing those moments in time and improving on them…priceless.

Photoshop To Me Is…

To put it quite simply the best picture editing software out there, bar none!

Ssh but don’t tell another living soul what I’m about to tell you now….

When it comes to the technical side of photography… well quite frankly I suck big time… don’t know my f stop from my (shall we put it politely) armpit…

Enter stage right…. the one the only Photoshop…

Photoshop to me is the tool of choice for taking my poorly exposed, badly composed photographs from drab to fab (well in my eyes anyway;)).

Ssh remember you promised not to tell my dirty little secret.

You can of course then go one step further…it’s always, in my opinion, a good thing to push it up just one more notch…take your photo edit software…enjoy… have fun… create …

Computer Scrapbooking Simple Digital Pages…Go Digiscrap!

Telling a story with your photographs a collage of your memories can provide a lasting remembrance of a particular moment in time….

When it comes to doing a scrapbook page I tend to let the main focus be the photograph…

So I enjoy a clean simple look with perhaps a small amount of wording…

I have been following along with Ali Edwards Computer Scrapbooking tutorials and she suggested adding a journaling block to the mix…

Here’s what I added to the page…

Jan 2nd, 2010… Remember This?…
Do you remember that trip to the beach?
Do you remember how cold it was, so cold we couldn’t feel our fingers, but we had to have that shot?
Remember how I wrote Herb in the sand, the joke name given to Brian & Penny’s baby to be?
Do you remember the pub lunch queueing for ages to get into The Squire?
Do you remember the food, how we all agreed it was well worth waiting for?
Do you remember sinking in the sand in your high heeled boots?
I’ll remember this always. xx

Although I feel that photographs alone can tell their own tale, adding a written account of the moment I see now can greatly enhance the story…

Photoshop Tutorial: For turning a photograph into a drawing on canvas can be found on iTunes unfortunately this is the last episode of PixelPerfect with Bert Monroy

When I’d finished this photo I had to think of some journaling to add to it, I decided against a long entry and went instead for a simple one line… camera girl. Now that title reminds me of a song that takes me back a few years, it’s funny how the mind works (well my monkey mind anyway), do you remember it Party Girl by U2, I love that song…off for a listen.

Photoshop: Warmth A Photo Composite Template

A simple template using a blurred out photograph as the background for a collage of three photos.

I used different parts of the same photograph but this technique could just as easily be used for adding three different photographs to the frames.

Check out Layers magazine photoshop tutorial on how to create a template using clipping masks and layer styles for your own photo composites.

Double Picture Frames

Gingerbread House, originally uploaded by Groobers.

Each year we create a gingerbread house and each year I photograph the finished masterpiece.

Last year no house was created because sadly I had left it too late and though I searched high and low, unfortunately everyone had sold out.:(

This year I was determined that this would not be the case so I bought early and the creation was made, I think it’s the best yet.

Now I think a frame is in order to celebrate the return of the gingerbread house.

I got to thinking that perhaps I should buy one of the many different double picture frames available, now my only problem is which one.

One side of the frame I could fill with the picture above and the other side with the story of the gingerbread house.
