8×10 glass picture frames – I almost said come in many great styles and sizes !  Whoopsie they wouldn’t be called 8×10 frames if they were a different size.

Anyway 8×10 frames do come in a wide variety of styles and materials and can be used to great effect in your home or make a stylish gift to give on a variety of occasions.

Now the plain black frame, well that’s like your little black dress!  It’s in every girls wardrobe, goes with just about everything, and comes out in times of  fat crisis.

Now of course there’s the digital style of picture frame, which is popular these days.  I have one which was a Christmas gift from my daughter as she knows quite well of my love of all things photography related.

No silly I’m not saying that collage picture frames are wooden, I am describing a particular type of wood photo frame but you knew that right ?

Wooden picture frames will add a distinctive element to any plain boring wall in your home or office.

Filling Wooden Picture Frames
Now what occasion can I use to fill all those openings in my frame?

To fill the frame is easy, just gather your favorite photographs and I’ll give you a couple of examples and ideas.

• Wedding – Get all your wedding pictures out including stealing borrowing some from all the single frames (affectionately known as the dust gatherers in my house.)  Choose the ones you love the most and use those.  You spent a small fortune on a wedding photographer why not display those beautiful shots instead of hiding them away?
• Friends – Think of all those best mates and all those special moments you have shared and use the photos of them in all their goofy glorious goodness.  Then, get them up on the wall in your collage picture frame.  I guarantee  when visitors arrive at your home it will be the first thing they gravitate towards (well after they’ve grabbed a beer from the fridge that is.)  It will make a great conversation starter, reminiscing over past times and moments you have shared.  Warning Tip : Make sure you include all your friends, you don’t want to forget someone and have them wondering why they are not up there on the wall of fame (could be nasty!)
• Baby – In your babies bedroom display all your precious moments with your newborn up on the nursery wall.  Then, when you are spending hours cleaning toys from the floor in future years (trust me this will happen) you will be able to gaze up lovingly at those memories of them when they were just a little tiny tot.

Whatever you decide to display on the walls of your home or office is of course up to you, just stop dilly dallying and get them up there proudly displayed for everyone to enjoy.

Baby Picture Frames

Each year we create a gingerbread house and each year I photograph the finished masterpiece.

Last year no house was created because sadly I had left it too late and though I searched high and low, unfortunately everyone had sold out.:(

This year I was determined that this would not be the case so I bought early and the creation was made, I think it’s the best yet.

Now I think a frame is in order to celebrate the return of the gingerbread house.

I got to thinking that perhaps I should buy one of the many different double picture frames available, now my only problem is which one.

One side of the frame I could fill with the picture above and the other side with the story of the gingerbread house.

How do you create personalized memories for your home?

8×10 picture frames can be filled with your own template, here’s a step by step guide on making picture frame templates to fill with your photographs.  It will give them the illusion of being behind a mat within a collage picture frame.

Instead of buying a ready made frame with the size of the photo openings already decided for you follow along with this quick tutorial and you will be able to create templates for all your photographs.  Allowing you the freedom to pick and choose the size you want to create and the shape of the openings you want.

Step 1 Open up your photo editing software (in this example I use Photoshop but any software that lets uses layers will work.)

Create a new file and choose the size and resolution of the template you want to create, as I want to be able to print this dog photo collage when I have finished I have chosen 300 pixels per inch.

Step 2 Decide the number of openings you want to display in your mat and the size and shape of these openings, add guides by clicking on your horizontal and vertical rulers and dragging them onto your page, which will help when adding your template shapes.

Step 3 Add the shapes you require for your template (these blank shapes will be filled in with your photographs when we finish the template.) Make sure when you create your shapes to do so on separate layers so that when adding photos you can add different ones to each shape.

Step 4 Choose the photographs that you would like to use in your template, place them above the blank shape and then clip to the shape (option/alt key and click between the photo and shape layer.)

Step 5 Remove your guides, add some effects and text and you have your own creation ready to frame.

Dog picture frames are of course very popular with dog owners, but you can also create as many different templates as you can buy picture frames to fill them with:

• friend picture frames
• baseball picture frames
• wedding picture frames
• baby picture frames
• 40th birthday picture frames
• Christmas picture frames
• butterfly picture frames

These are just a few examples of the many frames you can buy today available both online and off.

Creating templates for your photos gives the control of how you want your photos to look back to you, you decide the size shape and how many photos you want to use in your template, instead of the existing mat making those decisions for you.

Now because the mat you created holds the 8×10 standard sized picture all you have to do is print this and then choose from a wide selection of 8×10 picture frames.

Remember with photo editing software you can crop your photographs to any size that you like, so if you discover lots of perfect dog picture frames at unusual sizes you don’t need to get out the scissors, just crop print and go.
